We Take This Seriously.
Every Time.
As a nonprofit serving vulnerable individuals-children, women, families-it is our responsibility to not only care for them, but to protect them. That means we don’t just focus on what we do for people. We also watch who is trying to access them. We have safeguards in place-background checks, accountability structures, and ongoing training.
But most importantly, we pay attention.
We act when something isn’t right. We don’t stay silent to keep anyone comfortable.
When a news story broke involving a wealthy contributor-someone with past access to our organization-we didn’t hesitate. We notified every person and group he had interacted with.
We cut off ties immediately.
People will always matter more than power, position, or funding. Predators thrive in silence. In places where people look the other way. But not here. We will never cover for someone. We will never protect a reputation over a person. We will always speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
We are not afraid to lose support if it means protecting the vulnerable. We are only afraid of becoming the kind of organization that doesn’t.
This is our line in the sand. And we’ll keep drawing it-every single time.
We encourage everyone to learn more about the protocols in your own community and the communities you encounter.
