Brad Catron


Prior to co-founding Foothold International in 2012 with his wife Cherie, Brad worked in his family business for nearly 35 years, before transitioning to full-time ministry in 2005. He is a Minister of the Gospel, with a passion to do his part in fulfilling Jesus’ Great Commission of going, and making disciples. After giving his life to Christ in 1999, Brad entered the mission field on various short-term trips to Canada, Ukraine, Mexico, Haiti, and Kenya. An avid coffee drinker and runner, Brad is currently renovating a 1920’s craftsman style home. Brad and Cherie have 3 grown sons, and reside in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Cherie Catron

Vice President

Cherie graduated from Ohio University with a BS in English Education and a M.Ed. in professional community & school counseling. She worked as a high school English teacher for 12 years in public schools and now works as a community counselor for an nonprofit organization specializing in systems approach to family therapy and community development. Her interest in Africa began in 3rd grade after watching an infomercial for Save the Children, but it was over 20 years before she had the opportunity to go to Kenya on a short-term mission trip. Shortly after that trip, she came on staff with E3 Partners Missions Organization and began leading trips to Kenya with her husband, Brad. In addition to leading short-term trips to Kenya, her travels include South America, China, Ukraine, and Uganda where she has organized teacher training, counseling workshops, women’s conferences and HIV/Aids Education and counseling as well as poverty alleviation.

Charity Kiriinya

GM of Kenya Operations

Charity Kiriinya is the Overseer of Operations at Kuendeleza Africa, as well as the cofounder of the Taveta Children's Assistance Program. She is also a Pastor's wife at Great Gospel Missioners Church, and a mother of three. Charity’s duties include handling finances, encouraging staff, and overseeing all aspects of Kuendeleza’s operations.
She is passionate about ministering to the local community, especially to orphans and widows. Her hobbies include making new friends and sharing motivational stories with kids.

Melanie Detty

Board Member

Melanie married her husband Jeff shortly after graduating from Unioto High School and started her family right away. She is the mother of three grown children and has been employed by RHF Enterprises as a People Department/Public Relations Manager for the last eighteen years. Melanie’s love for missions began in June of 2013 when she made her first trip to Kenya with Foothold International. After returning to the U.S., she found herself thinking of her time in Africa constantly and four months later she returned to continue working on ministries such as the goat project, Biosand water filtration and sports discipleship. In the future Melanie plans to continue to travel to Kenya with Foothold International and use those experiences to serve with her church family in places like Nicaragua, Haiti and wherever God leads her to go.

Amber Ginter

Board Member

Amber is a 19-year-old writer, and thinker from Kingston, Ohio. Since graduation in 2014, she attends Ohio Christian University, and will later be majoring in English for Secondary Education, with a minor in Journalism/Communication studies. Amber has a passion for telling others about Jesus Christ, and proclaiming the words that He has given to her to declare. She is a musician, enjoys running, dancing, photography, and singing. Amber hopes that you will be able to see her love of God shining through in all that she does.

Tina Sowers

Board Member

Tina Sowers is a Chillicothe native. She is married to Tom Barnitz – they are members of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church and have two grown daughters. Tina has her BS from Marietta College and her MA from the Ohio State University. She works as a hospital administrator in Columbus, Ohio and has worked in all aspects of healthcare – small, rural critical access hospitals, public health, and urban academic medical centers. Tina currently serves as a volunteer and board member to the Hope Clinic in Chillicothe and has previously served as board member to the YMCA and the American Cancer Society. She has a desire to serve God’s plan for her both locally and internationally and is currently planning her first mission trip to Mexico.

Darius Ndamb

GM Biosand

Darius Ndambo is the General Manager of the Biosand project, called Aqua Chala in Kenya. Apart from his management duties, Darius installs, and services Biosand filters in the village Chala. He is also certified in training others in all aspects of Biosand water filtration technology. Darius sees his work in the community as an opportunity to make Jesus Christ known, and help others live healthier lives. He and his wife, Elizabeth have a baby daughter and takes great pride in providing for them. He enjoys playing soccer, exploring nature, and guiding tours.
